Embellished Cushions

Embellishing machine

Sewing machine

Sewing thread

Polyester satin  25cm square

Backing fabric  25cm square

Set the embellishing machine up with five needles

Place your fabric under the machine and set the height, you need to be able to move the fabric freely.

Start in the centre and machine a straight line from top to bottom, you will notice how the embellishing machine distresses the fabric.

Continue to machine rows 2.5cm apart working from the centre out.

Place the embellished fabric face to face with your backing fabric and pin in place.

Set the sewing machine up for straight stitch, stitch length 2.5.

Machine around the edge of your cushion leaving a gap large enough to take your cushion pad.

Turn your work right sides out and place your cushion pad inside

Stitch up the gap.

You can experiment with different effects for the top of your cushion by using fabrics such as organza or re-cycled denim
